How football keeps children safe: what safeguarding and abuse mean, FIFA’s five principles and five steps, safe recruitment, supervision and travel, how to recognise and respond to a concern, and the duties an agent carries when representing young players.

What you will be able to do
- Define a child, safeguarding, child protection and the main types of abuse
- Explain the five principles, and why safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
- Apply the toolkit’s rules on recruitment, supervision, travel and photos to a football activity
- Tell poor practice from possible abuse, and choose the right reporting route
- Judge whether an academy safeguards children well enough to recommend it
- Plan your response when a young client tells you something worrying
